Federal Issues

While OCHA primarily focuses on children’s health care in Ohio, there are many issues that affect Ohio’s children at the Federal level as well, such as:

  • Increased Medicaid reimbursement for pediatric specialist care (which is currently at approximately 40 percent of Medicare specialist reimbursement rates)
  • Increased Medicaid enrollment to cover low income children and children with special health care needs
  • Addressing regional and state-based variations in quality and access to care for children
  • Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education funding
  • Evidenced-based improvement in the quality of care for children
  • Prescription drug pricing
  • Community benefit reporting by Children’s hospitals
  • Funding for pediatric research
  • Children’s health and safety promotion and education

OCHA works to support these and other important issues and advocate for solutions to national health care challenges.
